wake up, stretch, stretch, stretch.
pace before the door, waiting
dash down , go outside

cold, snow on the ground
gottapeegottapee fast
thanks for drying me

now two legs wakes up
crunchy bits with cut up meat
breakfast that i love

no one else is here
jump on the bed, go curl up
sleep on warm pillow

two legs returns and
guess im caught - shouldnt be here
roll over, rub me?

belly rubs are best
but now i have to get off
stalk out, I'll be back

leaving again bye
guess i cant go out as well
return to pillow

two legs are back now
race down the stairs, whoops, too fast
gentle hands on head

more food and kibble,
hugs, and kisses, and chased socks,
feeling loved all night

they remain awake
i go upstairs by myself
goodnight two legged ones

steps coming upstairs
hands roll me over, picked up
taken to my cot

dark under the bed
curl up, tuck my head in close
dream of chasing squirrels
